Dr. Jennifer Sears, associate professor of education at the University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ), recently presented at the Education Support North Network conference in Western Australia. About 1,200 special educators including teachers, professors, paraprofessionals, and occupational therapists attended the conference.
Her talk highlighted how the use of artificial intelligence in the classroom can level the playing field for students with disabilities.
She also presented with Dr. Kathy Randolph from Texas State University at the Twilight Seminar Series at Edith Cowan University. Their presentation sought to help Australian educators see how they can provide greater access to general education curriculum to students who are receiving some special education instruction.
Sears was also visiting two schools in Perth, Australia, to help finalize arrangements for a 12-week student teaching program that will welcome Â鶹ÊÓƵ students for the first time during the 2025-26 academic year.
"I enjoyed getting to see what our teachers will experience," Sears said. "Our students will really get to see the culture of Australia. It's going to be a really exciting opportunity for our students and faculty."
