The University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) Department of Postal Services won three awards from the College and University Mail Services Association (CUMSA) this spring.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Postal Services earned the Ralph Yates Golden Stamp of Approval Award in recognition of its "efforts to continually improve the operation and efficiency of your mail center," according to the CUMSA.

The team award particularly highlighted Â鶹ÊÓƵ Postal Services' implementation of technology. This includes the addition of parcel lockers; the tracking system for interoffice mail using red envelopes, which faculty and staff may recognize; and other innovative approaches in connecting the university's campuses.

Valarie Green, assistant postal supervisor, secured the CUMSA Outstanding Team Member Award, and Haley McDaniel, postal supervisor, won the CUMSA Presidential Award.

"Valarie is a very important asset to our team in Postal Services. She started here as a clerk and has been promoted due to her work ethic and time management skills," McDaniel said. "I submitted her name to win the award because I wanted to share all the great things she's done for our office. She has fostered great relationships with those she interacts with, both on routes and in the office, and we are all so glad she has received this recognition."

In addition to her excitement for honoring Green, McDaniel said the team recognition was well-earned.

"After all the hard work during COVID-19, being here every day, it's very nice to be able to get some recognition for all of our hard work," McDaniel said. "I'm very proud of my staff, and it's good to be able to talk about everything they're doing."
