University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) student Carly Evans is participating in the Governor's Internship Program during the spring 2022 semester. One of 13 students from across the country selected by Gov. Brian Kemp's office, Evans is spending her time in Kemp's communications department.

"This internship is a great way to serve Georgia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Evans said. "It is a way to further my education and my understanding of government."

A junior pursuing a degree in political science with a pre-law concentration, Evans began her Â鶹ÊÓƵ academic career through Georgia's dual enrollment program as a student at North Hall High School.

Dr. Cristian Harris, professor of political science and international affairs, said Evans will benefit from this opportunity, for which she received application assistance from Â鶹ÊÓƵ Career Services.

"She is a wonderful student," Harris said. "She is always eager for a challenge. She genuinely wants to learn."

A prestigious and highly competitive program, the internship is open to upperclassmen, graduate students, and law students from throughout the United States.
