Students place in national sales competitions
University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) students pursuing marketing degrees with a sales concentration and management degrees have excelled in a trio of national competitions held virtually this spring.
"Students took advantage of the opportunities to compete and become one of our success stories," said Dr. Cindy Rippé, Â鶹ÊÓƵ associate professor of sales. "This helps them get better jobs and become better prepared for their careers."
Â鶹ÊÓƵ finished sixth out of 30 teams in the , led by a fifth-place individual showing by Austin Rich. Andrew Nicolini, Jose Martinez and Sebastian Salinas joined Rich on Â鶹ÊÓƵ's team. Â鶹ÊÓƵ hosted the virtual event held over a three-week period in February and March with Baylor University and the Atlanta Hawks.
Then, Â鶹ÊÓƵ placed eighth out of 44 universities in the hosted virtually March 25-27 by Salisbury University. Lauren Williams and Jordan Mallak were the two Â鶹ÊÓƵ students on the team.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ students Jessica Berliner, Kaitlyn Bowling and Kaeley Creasman finished in the top 2% out of more than 2,200 competitors in the virtual held April 14-15. Â鶹ÊÓƵ had 31 students finish in the top 30%, the sixth-highest number among the 63 competing universities and colleges from the U.S., Canada and Germany.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ also held the Pitch Yourself Competition sponsored by Consolidated Electrical Distributors on March 31, with Caitlyn Richard taking first place, Juleah Edwards in second, and Berliner in third.
Students embrace chamber internships
A Â鶹ÊÓƵ student and a recent alumnus have made the most of their internships with local chambers of commerce and begun to blaze their career paths thanks to those experiences.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ named Fulbright top producer
Â鶹ÊÓƵ is providing transformative experiences abroad for alumni as a top producer of Fulbright students. The university earned this distinction for a ninth consecutive year and tied for third among master's institutions with four selections.
Innovation Summit set for March 2 at Â鶹ÊÓƵ
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Mike Cottrell College of Business will host the Nighthawk Innovation Summit on March 2 at the Dahlonega Campus.
Students offer free tax preparation
Students pursuing bachelor's and master's accounting degrees at Â鶹ÊÓƵ are providing free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by the IRS.
