Students place in national sales competitions

University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) students pursuing marketing degrees with a sales concentration and management degrees have excelled in a trio of national competitions held virtually this spring.
"Students took advantage of the opportunities to compete and become one of our success stories," said Dr. Cindy Rippé, Â鶹ÊÓƵ associate professor of sales. "This helps them get better jobs and become better prepared for their careers."
Â鶹ÊÓƵ finished sixth out of 30 teams in the , led by a fifth-place individual showing by Austin Rich. Andrew Nicolini, Jose Martinez and Sebastian Salinas joined Rich on Â鶹ÊÓƵ's team. Â鶹ÊÓƵ hosted the virtual event held over a three-week period in February and March with Baylor University and the Atlanta Hawks.
Then, Â鶹ÊÓƵ placed eighth out of 44 universities in the hosted virtually March 25-27 by Salisbury University. Lauren Williams and Jordan Mallak were the two Â鶹ÊÓƵ students on the team.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ students Jessica Berliner, Kaitlyn Bowling and Kaeley Creasman finished in the top 2% out of more than 2,200 competitors in the virtual held April 14-15. Â鶹ÊÓƵ had 31 students finish in the top 30%, the sixth-highest number among the 63 competing universities and colleges from the U.S., Canada and Germany.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ also held the Pitch Yourself Competition sponsored by Consolidated Electrical Distributors on March 31, with Caitlyn Richard taking first place, Juleah Edwards in second, and Berliner in third.
Overseas experience is 'life-changing' for cadet
Eleven Â鶹ÊÓƵ cadets spent the summer abroad in U.S. ally nations experiencing culture and military structure, including a cadet who now has a new preferred branch.
Esports team takes second place nationally
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Esports team finished second in the Local Area Network event at the National Esports Collegiate Conference.
Student's persistence lands internship
Connor Christian didn't let one setback keep him from trying again. Instead, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ senior kept working, got creative and earned an internship at Publix's corporate office.
Smith preps to play in U.S. Amateur
Fresh off his individual NCAA Division II men's golf national championship in May, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Hunter Smith is playing in the U.S. Amateur, which is Aug. 11-17 in San Francisco.
