Junior named alternate for Rangel Summer program

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ junior Ann Lim was named an alternate for the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program. The program provides undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

As a person who can speak five languages and loves to talk to people, it is no surprise that University of North Georgia (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ) junior Ann Lim dreams of working for the .

When the junior pursuing a degree in cybersecurity learned about the , she applied because it met her future career objectives and personality.

"Rangel was very attractive to me because of the opportunities and classes it offered," said the 21-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia. "It teaches you how to socialize, meet people and network with others."

This spring, Lim was named an alternate for the Rangel summer program. If a finalist declines the offer, Lim would be eligible to join the six-week event.

The program provides undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

"It was sweet and sour when I read the email," said Lim, who now plans to apply for the upon completion of her degree at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 2022. "I plan to go to graduate school, too."

This spring, Lim also was selected as a member of the Alumni Student Host team, which is an elite group of students who assist the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving in hosting visiting alumni and occasionally attend out-of-town alumni events. Lim is one of seven Alumni Student Hosts for the 2021-22 academic year.
