Assistant coach Acton named to WBCA Thirty Under 30

University of North Georgia (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) women's basketball assistant coach Jaymee Acton has been named a (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 honoree, presented by Morgan Stanley Global Sports & Entertainment.
The alumna and former Â鶹ÊÓƵ basketball player has spent seven seasons on the sidelines for Â鶹ÊÓƵ alongside head coach , the first two as a graduate assistant. Acton has helped the Nighthawks win three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) tournament titles in the past four years. The Nighthawks also have been to three straight NCAA regional finals and earned four consecutive NCAA postseason appearances.
"I'm honored to be recognized alongside so many great coaches. It's a blessing to coach at Â鶹ÊÓƵ and work under coach Buffie Burson," Acton said. "It's the people who make this program so special and successful, from the team to our Â鶹ÊÓƵ Athletics staff to the community."
The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and younger at all levels of the game.
"I would like to thank the WBCA for recognizing Jaymee with this great honor," Burson said. "She is not only a rising star, she is a star who has played a huge role in our program's success."
Fall teams aim to maintain momentum
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's athletic teams will aim to build this fall on the best year in program history by adding more success in soccer, golf and cross country.
Smith preps to play in U.S. Amateur
Fresh off his individual NCAA Division II men's golf national championship in May, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Hunter Smith is playing in the U.S. Amateur, which is Aug. 11-17 in San Francisco.
McGill shines at Air Assault School
Â鶹ÊÓƵ cadet and women's soccer student-athlete Grace McGill recently completed Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She led the 40 cadets who took part in the program.
Five selected for Â鶹ÊÓƵ Athletics Hall of Fame
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Athletic Department and the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee have announced the 15th class of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Athletics Hall of Fame.
