Holidays

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ offers 13 paid holidays a year to eligible employees. The official holidays for all offices of the university are listed here. 


  • New Years Day: Thursday, January 1
  • Vacation/Comp: Friday, January 2
  • Martin Luther King Day: Monday, January 19
  • Presidents' Day: February 16 (observed December)
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 25
  • Juneteenth: Friday, June 19
  • Independence Day:Friday,  Friday, July 4
  • Labor Day: Monday, September 7
  • Columbus Day: October 12 (observed December)
  • Veterans Day: November 11 (observed December)
  • Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 26
  • Day After Thanksgiving: Friday, November 27
  • Winter Break: December 21 - 31
    • Requires the use of 4 vacation days or 4 comp days
      • Vacation/Comp: December, 21 - 24 = 32 hours
      • Holiday: December 25, 28-31 = 40 hours

Vacation (Annual Leave) and Sick Leave

How much is accrued
  • 9-month Faculty: Do not accrue.
  • Administrators/Admin Faculty: 14 hours per month.
  • Full-Time Staff:
    • 0-5 years: 10 hours/month
    • 5-10 years: 12 hours/month
    • 10+ years: 14 hours/month
  • Part-Time (30-39 hrs): Equivalent ratio to time employed.
  • Temporary/Less than half-time: Do not accrue.
  • Full-Time Benefits Eligible: 8 hours per month.
  • Part-Time Benefits Eligible: Equivalent ratio to percentage of employment.
  • Temporary/Student Assistants: Do not accrue.
Carry Over Limits Adjusted to no more than 45 days (360 hours) on December 31 of each year. No limit to the amount that may be accrued or carried over.
Upon Leaving Employment Paid out for unused hours up to a maximum of 45 days (360 hours). No payout for unused hours. Retiring employees may apply hours toward service time with TRS.
