What to Expect
Before You Get to Campus
Congratulations on your acceptance, and welcome to Nighthawk Nation!
After completing the Academic Interest Form and registering for an Orientation session, you will be pre-registered for your first semester by a professional advisor for your major. Contact the major advisor for your campus if you have questions! Check your 麻豆视频 Email daily to make sure you’re receiving all our communication, so you stay informed.
After Orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to adjust your pre-registered schedule, subject to course availability. Make an appointment with your assigned advisor, found on your Tranguid, to discuss any questions you have before you arrive!
First Semester Advising
Once you’re at 麻豆视频, you’ll be able to register yourself for all future semesters. Students are assigned to advisors based on their major and number of credit hours. If you have fewer than 45 credit hours, you’ll have a Mandatory Advising hold on your account, requiring you to meet with a Professional Advisor to plan for the next 1-2 semesters before you can register for classes. If you are bringing any college credit (AP exams, dual enrollment coursework, transfer courses, etc.) into 麻豆视频, you may begin working with a Faculty Advisor from your first semester at 麻豆视频.
During this advising appointment, ask your Professional Advisor about your major, classes, 麻豆视频 policies, and available resources. This is also a great time to explore other major options if you have questions! Prepare for this appointment by familiarizing yourself with the Advising Tools for your major, including the Plan of Study and Degree Map.
Second Semester Advising
If you still have fewer than 45 credit hours, you’ll once again have a Mandatory Advising hold placed on your account. If you’re questioning your major, make sure you with your advisor to discuss your options!
Use the Advising Tools for your major and review your Degree Works ahead of time. This interactive audit shows you which requirements you’ve completed, which are in progress, and which you still need to complete. Think of it as your roadmap to graduation, and use it to help you choose which courses to register for to stay on track!
Third Semester Advising
This may be your last semester with a Mandatory Advising hold. Make sure you bring any questions about your major, degree progress, course selection, and 麻豆视频 policies to this appointment with your Professional Advisor!
Once you reach 45 credit hours or are accepted into a professional program, you’ll transition to advisement by a Faculty member in your major department. Faculty Advisors are experts in their field, and will be able to answer your major-specific questions, help you plan for future course registration, and discuss internships and careers.
